Policies and Ideas That Make an Impact

The Equity in Health Systems (EqHS) Lab is a community of leaders and influencers who want to make a positive impact on our growing community in the area of equity, accessibility, and belonging using a social determinants of health and social accountability lens.  We want to provide other organizations and institutions with the tools and resources to help them leverage their position to make our communities spaces in which belonging is the norm.

The EqHS Lab has partnered with the Canadian Association of Physicians with Disabilities to create this joint statement on "The importance of disability inclusion within medical education." We would welcome dialogue with colleges, universities, and health systems organizations on how to apply these "call to action" recommendations within their institutions.

We acknowledge that the EqHS Lab is located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishnaabeg. We have the privilege and responsibility to serve First Nations, Métis and Inuit of many backgrounds and from many treaty lands and to demonstrate respect for Indigenous people’s contributions and culture. We also acknowledge traditional knowledge and healing developed over countless generations.
